High-Frequency and Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapy:
The Lymphatic system is a complicated network of vessels, ducts, and nodes that moves fluid between the cells and tissues,
distributing the infection-fighting cells of the body. These lymph vessels are an important part of the immune system; when
this system is clogged, toxic waste cannot be effectively released. Causes of lymph congestion include: inactivity, poor diet,
surgeries, injuries, environmental toxins, hormonal imbalances, aging, and emotional stress. Drainage of the lymph has many
healthful benefits.
Unlike the circulatory system, the lymph system is not pumped by the heart but instead relies on tiny muscle units contracting
throughout the body. This peristaltic motion is what is used to cleanse the environment in which all our body’s cells live.
It is within this environment that dead cells, proteins, toxins, and old fluid gets trapped. Part of this system is pumped
through exercise, but not all!
As a result, our cells are often trapped in this toxic environment. A good example would be if you were trapped in a room
without vents or windows, with the only existing vent being an exhaust from a next-door factory. Their pollution and poison
would be entering the room slowly. Soon you would be unable to breathe, and eventually you would stop breathing. Now imagine
your cells living in an environment of old stagnant fluid with dead cells, and toxins - they cannot breathe!
Lymph drainage can help to recirculate this fluid and it can stimulate the immune system.
It can also create a relaxed environment for the sympathetic nervous system, allowing the parasympathetic nervous system
to be activated. As a result, we can lose that high adrenaline “fight or flight” feeling that many of us live in on a regular
basis. Lymphatic drainage may help detoxification, swelling, edema, insomnia, depression, stress, loss of vitality, chronic
inflammation, tissue regeneration, scarring, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, spasms, cellulite tissue, skin eruptions,
chronic pain, and stimulate the immune system.
The Natural Path Alternative uses 2 types of lymph drainage. Your therapist may use a device called the Lymphstar Pro®,
which incorporates light and sound with noble gas ionization to move the lymph and detoxify and cleanse the tissue as it
relates to the lymphatic system. Used in conjunction with colon hydrotherapy, lymphatic drainage can prove to be extremely
cleansing and detoxifying. This method can be used on the same day as a colon hydrotherapy session.
Your therapist may also decide to use a hands-on method, which is a European process of moving the lymph developed by
Dr. Bruno Chikly. A normal session will include a number of gentle hand movements in various areas of the body.
These movements are timed and the pressure used depends on the area of the body and on the depth of the lymph that is
being stimulated. The therapist will use her knowledge to determine the rhythms and direction of the lymph. She will
focus on areas of stagnation. This process is best done the day before a colon hydrotherapy if the client decides to do
the two in conjunction.
