Rebecca Martinez is not only the owner of The Natural Path Alternative Inc. but also the herbalist. She has been studying the body
for over 16 years and has been a pharmacist for over 10. She received her pharmacy degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy
and studied as an herbalist at the School of Natural Healing for 3years. She has been certified in shiatsu, lymph drainage, touch
for health, applied kinesiology, colon hydrotherapy, biofeedback, and Qi balancing. She has studied four forms of bodywork and is
familiar with the energy of the body, its cells, and its vibration with other organisms including food and herbs. She has a BA in
psychology from Boston University. During her time at BU she took many physical therapy and nursing classes. She has certificates
from Synergy Medical Group, Upledger, Touch for Health, and I-ACT. She is a former long-term member of the Massachusetts Society of
Health System Pharmacist. She is currently a member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals and the Northeast Herbal
Association. During the past ten years she has participated and helped start medicine/heath clinics that follow hospital patients
through their medication usage. This involves keeping track a patient’s health care in order to take some responsibility off the
doctor. The patient’s past and current history are evaluated in order to better drug regimens and alter life style to improve
disease states. This also involves consulting on diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking, and many other topics. During her
pharmaceutical career at Mass General Hospital, as the pharmacy manager, she was known as the “pharmacist who doesn’t take drugs” to
the doctors and the “herb lady” to the patients.
Experience
The Natural Path Alternative has been a long-term dream of hers. Not only has she always been involved with the body and how it
heals, whether that is with medication, herbs, or other alternatives. Through personal traumas of debilitating arthritis at the age
of 19, head pounding migraines in her 20’s, and family traumas of Epstein Barr, cancer tumors, renal failure, constipation, and
deathly infections, she has found her way through the woods to her own Natural Path. She has found diet, cleansing, and herbs to be
her answer and The Natural Path Alternative allows her to share her knowledge and experience with anyone who wants to be dedicated
to a more natural way of allowing the body to work as it is meant to. In her career she has dealt with thousands of clients with
many disease states including infections, arthritis, heart disease, high blood pressure, autoimmune problems, migraines, acne,
tumors, kidney problems, liver problems, diabetics, high cholesterol, diarrhea, dermatitis, and many more. She searched for her
answers for years and wants to help others on their journey to their Natural Path.
Herbal/Health Philosophy
Our bodies are programmed with the genetics to function correctly. Through years of poor nutrition for many generations and the
pollutants of today’s society, our bodies have been debilitated with many diseases. However, our body knows how it should function. Through cleansing, detoxing and feeding it nutritiously, the body can relax and begin to function as it was programmed.
Herbal Consultation
Her herbal consultations are so comprehensive and packed with information because of her extensive background. She has been able
to see both sides of the spectrum from natural to conventional treatments. Her research and practice has aloud her to become familiar
with the Merck Manual, Merck Index, and the Materia Medica. At the same time she will combine her knowledge of the body, lymph, and
body energy to complete the wellness program. This avoids getting only partial information from an herbalist who specializes in
particular areas. Though her specialty is herbs, medication, and diet. Her knowledge base provides her with the ability to look at
the person as whole rather than segregated in parts, which is a problem for many holistic clinics where multiple therapists are
needed to get a complete view of the person.
An herbal consultation consists of many different aspects. It is best if done, at least the 1st time, with an iridology session.
The consultation is an education on diet and /or herbs depending on the needs of the individual. This may even encompass a session
at the grocery store, learning other eating alternatives. She may even suggest a session learning how to meditate, a balancing
session, lymph drainage therapy, or a colon hydrotherapy session, etc.
Our Herbal Products
Her suggestions on herbs may be in the form of capsule, extract, or syrup. She may also at times make a combination specifically
formulated for the individual in her own apothecary. These are all made using bulk herbs to create extract, tonics, orals, or syrups.
For her capsules and prepared extracts and syrups, she exclusively uses a few companies, which she has researched and has found to
hold up to the highest standards. These herbs are not “standardized” and are not noted as being “clinically formulated.” These words
often indicate that there are fillers or chemicals not related to or with the herb. Sometimes it is a vitamin or a mineral from a
non-organic plant source. It may even be a desiccated organ or body part. Some even contain components made from urine or other body
fluids.
The herbs she has searched for are only wild crafted and whole herbs whether that is in bulk, liquid, or capsule. This means that
there are no added ingredients, simply pure herbs grown without pesticides or chemicals. They are 100% organic. This is almost
impossible to find even in a health food store and many so-called holistic offices. Most herbal companies are becoming standardized;
as a result the herb amounts received have been drastically decreased and are inorganic. Her belief is that the body must be kept as
PURE and CLEAN as possible. If we cleanse and give the body the pure, organic
nutrients it longs for it will do the most amazing
things. It will work the way it was genetically programmed to work.
